Hi friends! Remember me?
I know it’s been awhile, but somehow the last month has FLOWN by. We’ve had a lot of fun + adventures to keep us busy including vacation, birthdays, a wedding, a new family member…and just plain life. Here’s a little recap of what we’ve been up to…
In August, we spent 2 weeks with my parents in Delaware. I’m sure some of you are asking “What the heck could you do in Delaware for 2 weeks?” The beach. That’s what. We spent our days soaking in the sun + saltwater, the men played golf, the ladies did some shopping, but mostly lots of eating + relaxing. It’s not very often we get to see my parents when the days aren’t jammed packed with things to do and places to go, so it was a treat to just enjoying time visiting together.
A few of our Delaware vacation highlights:
- Rehoboth Beach + Cape Henlopen State Park
- Dogfish Head Brewery
- Hopkins Farm Creamery — A working dairy farm with fresh made ice cream. A must have.
- Assateague State Park — Wild horses are all over the state park. We saw 2 meandering through the parking lot!
- Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base — The museum has over 30 aircraft in various sizes including a former Air Force One, then used exclusively for the Vice President. The museum features an “Open Cockpit Day” on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Definitely plan a visit around this, you won’t be disappointed!
Some of our favorite restaurants:
Our dear friends, Ryan + Hayley, were married in Vail over Labor Day weekend. It was AMAZING. We had such a fun weekend celebrating with them! This was our 3rd time walking down the aisle together in a wedding and it never gets old. 🙂
And in other big milestone news, my sister-in-law had her baby this week! We are thrilled to welcome Baby Charlie to the family!
September includes my birthday and I celebrated the best way I could possibly think of – with my boys. We drove to Longmont, Colorado to an apple orchard + farm. While Colorado doesn’t have the right climate for apple trees, there are a few that help get into the fall spirit. We took a tractor ride, fed horses, saw chickens and most importantly…ate apple cider donuts. Mmmmm.
And last but not least, Everett started school! He is now going to a part-time toddler program 2x a week. We thought it would be really good for his socialization and development (the break for mommy is an added bonus). He only started a week ago, but so far it’s been great. When we toured the school, he sat right down at a table with other kids and started playing. We knew that he’d be just fine! 🙂
I think that covers the big parts of life lately. Now we are settled back into our routine and relatively quiet days…and trust me, that’s not necessarily a bad thing right now!
How did you guys spend the last few weeks of summer?? Hope it was amazing!
xo,
Rachael
