I love Halloween. Maybe it’s the way people don’t take themselves too seriously and just have fun…even if it’s only one night out of the year. Maybe it’s the creativity + competition. Maybe it’s the perfect fall weather, pumpkin patches + corn mazes.
And candy. We can’t forget about the candy.
Whatever it is, I’ve been enjoying every second of it!
With Halloween just a few days away, I thought we’d take a trip down memory lane today and feature some of my favorite costumes from the last few years. We are still putting on the finishing touches of this year’s costume and I can’t wait to unveil it soon! In the meantime, enjoy this blast from the past…
Halloween 2009:
German Oktoberfest Couple
Fun fact: Jeff’s lederhosen were borrowed from his dad, purchased in Germany over 30 years ago.
Halloween 2011:
Audrey Hepburn + Indiana Jones
The Audrey costume was really easy to put together with items already in my closet. LBD, black sunglasses, pull hair back and pile on the pearls.
Halloween 2012:
Lucy + Ethel (Chocolate Factory Scene)
We made these costumes for our office costume contest and while we didn’t win, everyone loved it! We came in 2nd place!
Halloween 2014:
Bob Ross + Happy Little Tree (plus a little squirrel-to-be)
Jeff won 1st place at his office costume contest for this one. Big hit.
Halloween 2015:
Forrest Gump, Jenny + Lt. Dan
We won 1st place at Jeff’s office costume contest for our family costume. Admittedly, not exactly PC, but everyone loved it!
Everett was also an Air Force pilot for the Halloween party at his baby gym class last year. He was NOT a fan of the hat.
Can we make it a 3-peat of winning the costume contest this year? We’ll see on Friday! Which costume is your favorite? I’d love to see your all-time favorites!

October 31, 2016Never too late! I start brainstorming months and months in advance so I can keep my eyes open for anything that might work for our theme. I’m sure you could convince the hubby to dress up with you!

October 31, 2016I love that one for friends to do together. We had fun making those costumes — we had pink dye all over my kitchen, but well worth it!

October 31, 2016Thank you! We have a lot of fun with it and try to get creative instead of a bought costume from a store. I think it’s much more fun that way!
