I want to take a minute to talk about self-care.
As mothers {really just women in general}, we are always taking care of other people. It can be hard to find time to take care of ourselves with a to-do list a mile long; however, I think we can all agree that it’s so important.
You always have to put on your own oxygen mask first, right?
Since Emmy has been so sick the last two weeks, it’s been hard to find a few minutes to myself, but that’s exactly what I did this week. I needed to recharge my own batteries, even for just a few minutes, so while the kids were napping, I sat quietly to read a book. I haven’t done that in ages.
I chose to ignore the dishes, the laundry, the vacuuming + all the other chores piling up around the house, and instead I just sat down with a cup of coffee + a book.
I posted this photo on Instagram and asked my followers for their go-to ways to spend a little me-time, so I thought I’d share in case anyone needs some new ideas. These were the overwhelming favorites:
- Get a manicure or pedicure
- Read a book
- Get a massage
- Workout
- Take a nap
- Write in a journal
- Gardening (weather permitting)
- Go for a walk
- Take a bath
- Cooking {I can’t say this is a stress reliever for me personally, but for some people it is super relaxing!}
Another way I like to spend some me-time is shopping. I do most of my shopping online these days because it’s just too hard with the kids in tow {+ not nearly as relaxing!}, and one of my favorite shops is PinkBlush.
I found this cozy poncho sweater {here’s the exact one: Olive Ribbed Front Pocket Turtle Neck Poncho Top} + it’s the perfect choice for a cold winter day. It literally feels like you are snuggled in a blanket! Don’t be fooled — they aren’t just maternity clothes. PinkBlush has super cute options in regular women’s sizes, maternity + plus-size.
How are you going to spend a few minutes taking care of yourself this week?
